Humanitarians
Australia Assists is a global roster that deploys humanitarian expertise to Australia’s global partners for short-to-medium term deployments, typically between 3 to 12 months.

What is the roster?
In times of humanitarian need or crises, we respond to requests from relevant partner organisations, such as the UN Standby Partnership Network, National Disaster Management Offices and more.

TYPES OF DEPLOYMENT
UN Standby Partnerships
These deployments are in response to requests for surge capacity from UN agencies.
Direct Deployments
These deployments are directly embedded within a government agency or department, National Disaster Management Office, non-governmental organisation (NGO), civil society organisation (CSO) or regional organisation to support short-to-medium priorities identified by the partner.
Rapid Response Team
These short-term surge deployments are requested by partner countries after a disaster and are deployed for up to 14 days. Only available to existing roster members.

At times, we may undergo a targeted recruitment campaign for priority skills and expertise. We may also publicly advertise specialist roles on our social media or external recruitment websites, such as ReliefWeb.
These roles are generally advertised when specialty skills are required and may not be readily available within our roster, or if we want to test the market to attract the best possible candidates. As opportunities may arise externally, please ensure you’re following us on Facebook and LinkedIn.
