WELCOME TO AUSTRALIA ASSISTS

Australia Assists would like to Acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the lands, skies and waterways across the continent now known as Australia. We pay deep respect to Elders past and present and recognise the ongoing connection that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples maintain with Country which encompasses land, water, language, kinship, and spirit.

We also want to acknowledge the Indigenous, traditional, and local communities across the Pacific region who share their own ancient and enduring relationships with land and sea.

In the spirit of shared humanity and responsibility, we walk alongside communities to uplift and support in times of need, standing in solidarity through disaster and crisis; and draw upon the strength from the wisdom of those who have cared for Country and people for generations.

Through our deployments, we seek to provide timely and effective humanitarian expertise and strengthening partner organisations’ policies and practices in disaster preparedness, response, recovery and protracted crisis planning and coordination.

Partnership-8

Our approach to a partner-led approach is our commitment to listening, respecting and learning.

As humanitarian priorities and needs evolve, we work collaboratively to ensure the right person is placed in the right role at the right time.

Partnership-7

Every deployment is co-designed in partnership with the host country or organisation and our Australia Assists team.

This ensures that deployments align with local priorities and add to existing efforts, rather than replacing or duplicating. We also maintain rapid response capability to respond quickly in times of need (such as disaster response).

People deployed with Australia Assists are committed to supporting locally led action and collaborating closely with local partners.
